Homemade Pumpkin Pie (Made with real pumpkin)

Backed in 2005, I was enrolled in the Intensive English Course that the FAU offers. There was one teacher, that I wil always remember. Her name was Mrs. Smith. She was my listening and conversation teacher. A very organized, strict and old school teacher, but I still remembered many things that she taught me.


This time of the year reminds me her because She introduced me her homemade “Pumpkin Pie”. Made with real pumpkin pie. I loved it!!. It is one of my favorite desserts. Mrs. Smith was very nice to share with me her mom’s recipe. I have made this pie ever since. Everyone seems to like it, even my big princess who is a picky eater.


I wanted to pass it on, just in case some of you want to try it. XD


Ingredients:

2 eggs
3/4 cup organic brown sugar
1 cup prepared pumpkin
1 can evaporated milk
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
1 tsp. pumpkin pie spice
1/2 tsp. salt


Preparation:

1) I buy a prepared pie crust, but you could make the pie crust if you would like.

2) prepare the pumpkin: Take a fresh pumpkin. Cut it in half and take out the seeds and strings inside. Put the pumpkin cut side down on a plate and put it into the microwave on high for 10 minutes. The pumpkin is cooked if it is soft when you stick a fork in it. Take the pumpkin out and peel the skin off with a sharp knife. Cut the pumpkin into pieces and put it into a blender. Blend it until it is pureed.

This is the pumpkin size I usually get. It allows me to make two pumpkin pies from this recipe mix.

3) Prepare the filling: Beat 2 eggs. Add sugar, 1 cup of the pumpkin puree, 1 can of evaporated milk, salt, cinnamon, and add the pumpkin pie spice. Mix well. (I put all of these ingredients inside my blender.)


4) Pour the filling into the pastry and bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes or until done. You can test to see if it is done by sticking a knife into the center of the filling. If the knife comes out clean when you take it out, the pie is done. The pastry should be light brown





As I mentioned above, I can make two pies from this recipe. Hubby almost eats one himself every time I make them!!





The pie is ready!!! I made this pie for one of our playdates. Kids and mommies enjoyed it.

Would you like the opportunity to enjoy a handmade item by a fellow crafter?. If yes, join SoapMuchLove,LLC holiday swap. Reviews will be posted on FB pages/blogs providing your more exposure within our fans.


Rules: Who would be able to participate? Anyone who wants to up to 10 crafters!!. International soapmakers are also welcome, though shipping might be expensive. Send me an email at ada@soapmuchlove.com telling you want to participate in the swap, with the name of your company and what are you planning to submit. You make as many products to match the number of swappers participating up to 9 (Cold Process, Melt and Pour, lotions, or any other handmade item) and label them with the ingredients you used and your name, your company name, etc. They should be full size bars of soap (around 4 oz each). Other handmade items should worth around 6 dollars. Send the soaps to SoapMuchLove ensuring that it is received by Monday, November 12th. Ship to: SoapMuchLove,LLC C/O holiday Swap 8513 Eagles Loop Cir Windermere, FL 34786 On Friday November 16th , I will send to each of the swappers a PayPal invoice for the amount of 10.85 dollars (the cost of a medium USPS Flat Rate Box). The Festival of Chocolate

For those chocolate lovers this would be the ideal place to work. I am talking about The Festival of Chocolate,which was recently voted as one of the Top 10 Chocolate Festivals in the U.S !!. It is considered the Largest all-Chocolate Event in the Southeastern United States.

It showcases chocolates and treats from the region’s best Chocolatiers and Confection Companies. You will also have the opportunity to see Demonstrations by World Class Pastry Chefs; Live Competitions by Pastry Professionals, and many more chocolate related activities for adults and kids.


They host three big events throughout the year. One at the UFC Arena in Orlando, NSU Arena in Fort Lauderdale and the last one at the Museum of Science located in Tampa. I am so grateful to say that I was asked to be part of these events as a vendor selling my soap treats while everybody else will be selling edible treats.


The show will be featuring all my chocolate food inspired soaps, whipped sugar and scrubs will be among these talented chocolatier and confection companies. I am so honored and happy that I have this opportunity. Depending on how well I do at this event, I may also be participating in their Tampa and Orlando show as well.This could be the opportunity I was waiting for to introduce my products to the local market of Central Florida. Lets hope for the best!!

Today I met with The Festival of Chocolate team at their main office. I was thrilled to show them all the choco goodies I have been working on for this meeting. The purpose of this meeting was to come up with a gift they will giveaway to all the pastry chefs and models who will be participating at the event. The pressure was on, since these are professional pastry chefs and I wanted to do my best to make the soaps look as real and delicious as their pastries are.

Lalaloopsy Theme Birthday party

Those of you who follow me on Facebook know that I was getting ready for my big princess birthday party. In the blink of an eye, my big princess was turning 4th!!.Since this was her first first birthday where she really understood the meaning of birthdays, I took her to the store and let her choose her party theme. Well, She chose a “Lalaloopsy theme”. I was surprised since she did not have any of these dolls, but still she stuck with her decision. I thought I would be able to find Lalaloopsy party supplies every where, but I was wrong. When I visited Party Cirty, they did not even know what LalaLoopsy was. I ended up buying assorted bright colored paper plates and cups (yellow, green, pink and orange). I got a bright pink table cloth. Latin people love to celebrate birthday parties with a BIG pinata. It is a saying that a birthday party without a pinata and tequenos (a Venezuela’s food. For more inf click the link) is not a party. To be honest, I have not liked many of the pinatas I have bought in the past for my princesses’ birthdays. I was getting discouraged when looking on the internet because very few people sell Lalaloopsy pinatas and I really didn’t like any of them. Talking about this to one of my Venezuelan friends (I am blessed to have 3 Venezuelan friends and 4 American friends that are like my US family XD), she reminded me she used to make pinatas as a freelance. I just gave her a picture, and she made the most beautiful lalaloopsy pinata I could ever ask for. You will not see another like this, since every pinata is custom made for each customer.

Many people at the Green Meadow Farm asked me where I got the pinata. My friend was very excited about people’s reaction. Her name is Xiomara Omana and she is currently setting her online shop. In the meantime, you can reach her at belkisomana@cfl.rr.com


I got these beautiful goodie bags from Aileen whose Etsy shop is My Ally Bally. She will customize them with the name of your child and a brief message. Great transaction and fast delivery!



I found some time on Saturday to bake and decorate her birthday cake. It was a vanilla cake and I added some chocolate to the mix. I cannot live without chocolate XD. I was very pleased with the results since I do not consider myself a good cook and baker. I leave these to the experts!





I got the Lalaloopsy cupcake toppers from Kirstin. Her Etsy shop is Twinkle Twinkle little Craft. It was also a great transaction. Since she is located in FL, so the shipping was very fast.





As aside note, I would recommend the Green Meadow petting zoo for those who live in Central Florida and you are looking for a place to host your kids parties. I could enjoy her birthday party with the rest of the guests while the guide took us around to pet all the animals. It was lot of FUN!

My sister in-law’s wedding favors

Some of you know that I left my beautiful Venezuela in 2005, to pursue one of my personal projects that was learning English. Leaving everything behind was something very difficult to do, especially my family. I am blessed to say I have met angels throughout these years that have made me feel like this country is “home”. Some of these angels are my in-laws (so grateful I am one of those that can say this). Since I met them, I have always felt part of the family, so when my sister in-law asked me if I could make her wedding party favors , I felt so honored.

	This is one of my great sellers. I named this goat mik soap bar, Fresh Aroma. I thought It would match her color wedding theme so well (yellow and brown).


These are the wedding favors ready for wrapping. The satin brown ribbon complemented the elegant look I was looking for.




I was so grateful to know everyone loved them. Our family and some of her guests stopped me the day after the wedding and told me how much they liked the soaps. I was very flattered XD

Marvel theme custom order!

You probably have seen a previous post I did about Bits of Joy, but if you missed it. You can read the post here! I mentioned in that post that I was grateful that she asked me to make her son’s Birthday party favor. It was a Marvel theme party. Since most of my custom orders are for little girls and mommies, I always get excited when I have the opportunity to pamper the opposite sex. Kathy asked me to make cupcake marvel theme for the girls and a guest soap for the boys. I was thrilled how they turned out.
For the girls, I got these cute mini marvel erasers. I used them as a cupcake toppers!



and these are the cupcakes. Aren’t they cute??




For the boys I made these guest soaps. The perfect size for those little hands while having fun in the tub.



Since this order, this theme has become popular even among BIG boys too XD

From rainbow soap scraps to a unique soap bar!
